We’re building Cheque, a smarter way for businesses to get paid faster. Instead of static payment terms, we turn invoices into dynamic markets where vendors offer early payment discounts and buyers earn returns by paying early.

The founding team previously ran one of Europe’s top startup incubators, launched a VC fund and raised $10m, and scaled tech products internationally. We’re ambitious and unafraid, with a vision of making Cheque the largest financial institution in the world.

We’re now looking for a high-agency Founding Engineer to join the early team.

You’ll be a core builder and decision-maker, helping define our product, technology, and culture from the ground up. You’ll work directly with the founders to shape Cheque’s roadmap, architecture, and long-term technical strategy. You’ll have ownership, influence, and creative freedom. If you’ve built or founded something before, and you thrive on turning blank canvases into working systems, this is for you. 

We’re looking for someone who:

• Has high agency, moves with speed, and values taste

• Has strong product instincts and an exceptional eye for UX

• Prioritizes speed, simplicity, and solving real user problems over building perfect systems or over-engineering infrastructure

• Shapes both tech and business decisions, and brings strong technical judgment to product, roadmap, and strategy

• Has deep experience in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web frameworks (ideally Next.js) and backend systems (ideally with Prisma or similar ORM)

• Ideally has experience in fintech, payments, and early-stage startups
